New Tournament
So, the 22nd is another tournament. This means... 40K IS BACK!That's right, I am trying to get more games of Warhammer on the table then on the web. The tournament is 1500 points, but this is how it works:
We make a 1000pt 'core' lists then 2 500pt reserves lists. We will pick a reserve list depending on who we are playing against. This makes me happy because it messes up some cheese lists. I am going to bring my space wolves instead of my nids this time. I will try to post any BPs till then!

Scourge of the Waagh!
So a friend and I, played a pick-up game between his Ork horde and my Nids. Now since he is still trying to amass his Waagh! we proxied some of his models with mine. I brought my 1500 killer list, swaping out the Gargoyles and a few Gaunts to bring a Prime with Boneswords. I really need to ask to borrow my opponants lists at the end of these games so I can post what they brought. Ok, so we decided to use a special scenario this time and we randomly rolled the Dark Eldar scenario, Night Raid. We rolled off and Nick (my opponant) got to act as the Dark Eldar player. Deployment was similar to Spearhead with 4 objectives. Three were placed in the center of the quarters that didn't belong to the Dark Eldar player and one in the center of the table. Nick could only deploy Fast Attack and Troops that were in transports. I was able to deploy Troops and Heavy Support. This started a little unbalanced because Nick had half of his army off the table and I had almost all of mine (excluding HQs and deepstrikers). here is our initial set-up.
So I failed to steal the initiative, but that turned out ok for me. all Nick could do was zoom his vehicles up and wait for the next turn. Now the scenario uses nightfighting, but at the end of each player turn, we roll to see if the sun comes up. Well... Nick rolled a six meaning I could shoot at him without issues. My Tervigon poops out about 9 dudes, and my army moves up. Terv casts Catalyst on Genestealer. I manage to immobilize his troop truck (rhino) with my shooty Fex and my uber Gaunts keep the warbuggy from using weapons this next turn. Here is turn one:
Next, Nick gets his Komandos in, a Defdred, a unit of Boys, and his Lootas attatched to Bigmek w/Shokk Attak. His Komandos sneak up on the Genestealers, and the rest come in as close as possible from his edge. he gets his Boys out of his immobilized Truck and backs up his shaken Buggy.
He tried to lob a few rockits into my stuff with little effect, roasted only 1-2 Genestealers due to Catalyst, and thats about all.
Now came one of the most interesting parts.. Komandos assault the Genestealers! I killed all of his Komandos except for Snikrot. After SIX attacks from Snikrot, maybe one Genestealer died. He lost combat and needed double ones to pass the morale check.
!!!!!!!!!!! Snikrot's a gutsy little bugger! So he stayed and it is my turn next.
Well the good news for nick was that my HQs didn't make it in. The bad news was everything else did :P my Doom nearly scattered off the bored but landed right in the middle of his dudes, and my Mawloc REALLY deviated and popped up in the forrest. Well after the Terv pooped out 15 more Termagaunts, moved up, cast Catalyst on a group of Termies, blew up the buggy with the Fex, sucked up 8 Ork souls with the Doom, oh and my Gaunts were out of synapse so they are blindly running at the vehicle. Well finished off Snikrot with the Broodlord, took out the weapon on the second buggy with the awol Gaunts, asualted the Orks and killed 'em all, and this just kept going downhill for Nick.
So now Nick fails to get his Warboss in the fight, but his second Defdred comes in. He attemted to get his Oks away from the Doom, but it didn't work and they are just getting destroyed by his soul sucking ability. One Dred assaulted my Doom and got blown up (doom was at strength 10 by now). He was just short of an assault with his other Defdred and that ended his turn.
So I pooped out more Termigaunts (still no doubles), and my prime comes in with the unit of termigaunts. Mawloc ducks out and more of nicks stuff dies. Wrecked his imobilized vehicle in the assault. the handed it over to nick.
Warboss finally came in and tank shocked my Spore and Doom in the process. Doom got out of the way, but the Spore attempted a death or glory and got squished. After this, the only ineresting thing that happened was i rolled a 1, 2, and 3 for the number of pooped Gaunts... and i didn't have enough to put them all on the table :P
The game overall was ok. Nick started well, but the dice were not on his side. We will have to try again soon but now we also have our other friends in town so i should have more reports up soon! Stay Tuned!

Hive Fleet Scourge Advances
Well Jon and I have finally gotten around to play another game of 40k. Just a few weeks ago, we got into the game Warmachine and have been playing the crap out of it. My wife and I entered into an aggreement that I can't spend any more money on wargaming this year after I got the models for the game. Oh well. Anyways, Jon and I got out a 1500 list and rolled up a Dawn of War, 5x objectives (using models from the other game as markers). Jon won the roll off and placed his Eldrad, 10x Wraithguard (as a troops), and his Storm Guardians all in the central ruin. Eldrad was epically placed at the top of the bulidng.
I placed my troop tervigon behind a tower and the Tyrant on the opposite side of my DZ. My Genestealers outflanked almost to his back line.
Now, I forgot to take pictures till the end, so hang with me. Jon forgot to use Eldrad's redeployment ability so we started his turn as I failed to steal the initiative. He cast his three powers and moved his suff up from the back. His transports came from his left side to meet my Genestealers, his Shining Spears moved up behind the central ruin and his Dark Reapers ran trying to keep up. His Dire Avengers and Fire Dragons got out and shot the crap out of my 15 Genestealers. The Broodlord was once again, notoriously the last man standing with one wound left after a combined effort of several units (2x transports, 2x units). Jon saw this as an ill omen as to what was to come for one of his units.
My first turn started by the Terv pooping out 11 dudes. I moved my Shootyfex up next to my Tyrant on my right flank, my Hormagaunts and Termigaunts up the middle with the Prime attached to the Termigaunt unit. The pooped unit started to move up my left side. My Broodlord got into position to rape his 5 Dragons. My Tyrant and Fex unleashed hell on the Avengers from across the board with their stranglethorn cannons killing all but one and pinning the survivor. The Broodlord assalted, killed two, forced to flee, then over-ran the Dragons.
Jon's 2nd turn, he used one psykic power, then moved his tanks in a position to take vengence on the Broodlord, moved his Spears in view of my 11 gaunt unit, moved the Guardians out of cover, ran his Reapers up the ruin, and just stood there with his pinned Avenger. He then proceded to drop two Eldrich Storm templates on my Hormagaunts, killing a few. he then proceded to almost wipe out my 11 Gaunt unit, leaving 4, and killing the broodlord.
My turn, Terv pooped out 8, and Mawloc came in. Mawloc burst from the ground to devour all 3 Spears. My forces did little more than move up... until I wiped out his Guardians, but sent my Hormagaunt unit to their doom against the Wraithguard, for fearless wounds killed them off.
Jon's 3rd turn he sent my Mawloc to the warp with his wraithcannons, put two wounds on my tyrant, and moved his Avenger to the objective.
My turn, drop pod came in with the Doom inside. Scattered 8 inches :P Pooped out 11 more Gaunts, and moved everything else in for the kill. After this point not much happens except that the Doom manages to kill nearly all Jon's stuff from just being around them (sucks the souls out of them). My prime did some damage, but Jon conceded after I blew up a tank and about decimated his castled forces.
Overall, it was a fun game. I look forward to my other friends getting back into town for school so we can get some more games going. I may not have much of a life this next semester, but I will post any new battle reports! I also want to get the other guys to write up some for the blog as well. Stay tuned!

Epic Fail
I am considering Jon and I's campaign a fail. Due to a lack of campaign gaming and the recent reawakening of my Tyranid hive fleet, I am dubbing out current campaign in finished and over for now. Maybe we will get a new one going here soon. With the school year quickly approaching, we will have more player for our campaigns soon.

4-round Tournament
Well after the tournament this last weekend, I have come to realize that I can't get away fro the love I have for my Tyranids. Jon and I entered into the 1500pt tournament with high hopes for success. Jon ended up finishing with a 2-2 streak. I nearly took first until I faced mech-Guard. My first battle was against a friend and his Grey Knights. He brought two Dreadknights, a Landraider, two squads of terminators, and a single squad of Stike squad, all led by Crowe. The game went downhill from the start for him. My Broodlord instant-killed his HQ, I pinned one of his terminator units, and started to consume the rest. He ended up conceding after all but his landraider died. That gained me 22 battlepoints including bonuses. The next battle was against Chaos Marines. One word to describe this battle, CARNAGE! So much died... especially my stuff. All I had at the end of the game was my Tervigon and a group of three Termigaunts. However I got a major victory due to my Genestealers forming a congo-line (quoting Jon) and getting my objective off the field, as per the scenario. That boosted me up to 30 points. The next battle was against vanilla Marines, which was a huge game of luck. My opponant fired 6 hunter-killer missiles into my tyrant, fired his dreadnaught's multi-melta into him, and lit him up with rockit spam... ALL ON FREAKIN' TURN ONE! Apparrently he really wanted him dead, but my Tyrant had other ideas. He took 3 damage points, and successfully saved all other cover saves. Made my day. The game was a massacre and it boosted me up to 45 points. The next battle I faced the infamous Mech-Guard and scored 3 kill point but was massacred in the process. Because of my battlepoints, I took 3rd (though if I had won that last Battle I would have been 1st), but I proved my 'Nids a terror. Till next time.... NOM!

Eressar's Thoughts
Shadows scattered, wind blowing through the copse of trees as Eressar wiped the last of the Wolves’ blood from his ancestral blade. They had slaughtered them to a man, or so it would seem. He looked down at the man whose throat he had cut. These men could stop the Threat, if they would only listen……but they wouldn’t. Altansar would not see the galaxy consumed by this evil while these young races played at war. So close, so incredibly close to finding the weapon created in at the height of their power. It could not be allowed to fall hands of the this young race. No, Altansar would see the Eldar ascendant once more and the Threat destroyed. Eressar glanced up, watching Mugan Ra survey the carnage. They may have annihilated this batch of Marines, but more would come, drawn to the slaughter as moths to a flame.
And the same fate would befall those who followed: Death, in its many splendored varieties.

Meanwhile
So I have been waiting for Jon to post his journal from our last game, which he should be doing as we speak. But, while I waited, I didn't see the harm in playing another game, but this time it was my Nids against his Eldar. Jon told me to make a 1500 "anti-Eldar" list so he could learn to overcome that which was designed to kill him. So this is what I brought:
Hive Tyrant w/lash whip, bonesword, stranglethorn cannon, paroxism, & leech essence
Tervigon as a troop w/adrenal glands, toxin sacs, & scything talons
Deathleaper (for those of you who don't know, Deathleaper lowers the leadership of one enemy independant character. Sucks for those pesky psychers.. hehe)
The Doom of Malan'Tai with Mycetic spore
Ymgarl Genestealers (to deal with those pathfinders)
Termagaunt brood (to make Tervigon a troop)
Large Hormagaunt brood w/adrenal glands & toxin sacs
Genestealers and Broodlor w/implant attack
Gargoyle brood
Carnifex w/TL brainleach worms, and stranglethorn cannon
Jon switched his tournament list up just a bit. These are his units (I don't know all upgrades that he has so forgive me for leaving them out):
Farseer w/doom & mindwar
Autarch w/ mandiblasters, fusion pistol, and chainsword
Firedragons and exarch w/ heavy flamer in a 2xTL scatterlazer wave serpent
Harlequins full upgrades
Shining Spears w/exarch
Storm Guardians w/warlock (enbolden), flamer and fusion pistol in a 2xTL scatterlazer wave serpent
Pathfinders
Wraithlord with EML
Now I forgot to take pictures at every turn so I will have to explain each pics location.
We rolled a 3d3 plus 2 objective secenario and got 4 objectives. After placing objectives, we rolled pitched battle, Jon won the roll off, and decided to take the first turn. I was glad he did because I REALLY needed to know where to deploy my genestealers and gaunts. Because of my Ymgarls ability to just show up in any piece of terrain, Jon really didn't want to leave his snipers all alone. He instead to chose to place his harlies spaced throughout the building to deny the Ymgarls that building. Jon at this point does not know which terrain piece I wrote down for their Dormant ability. He proceded to deploy his units in a relatively defensive position, though he was really indecisive about where to focus his attention. I infiltrated my Genestealers, which I normally don't do. Usually I outflank, but for some strange reason, Jon has been highly reluctant to deploy near the edges of the tables (I really wonder why :P). Anyways, I chose his Farseer to be the victim of Deathleaper's horror tacticts, and rolled a -3 for his leadership :D I deployed semi-agressively to take the objectives.
I failed to steal the initiative and Jon porceded with his first turn. He DDDOOOMMMED (yes I did just yell that) my Genestealers, killed a few, took 3 wounds of of my Carnifex, then repositiond his army to match my advance.... Eldar castle, here we come. NOM NOM!
For my first turn, the Tervigon pooped out 10 dudes (no doubles), blew a brain nerve with psychic test (stupid runes of warding >:O ) and all of my forces advanced... and thats it.
Beginning of his 2nd, he droped the farseer and guardians before moving his tank to his left flank. The Guardian unit moved forward with the Wraithlord behind and then proceded to unleash hell on the stealers, even killed a few gaunts due to the flamer. He attempted Mind War with my Broodlord, but where as I would have been normally beaten by 2 points of leadership+die roll, because of the deathleapers Its After Me! rule, I beat him by one. With his Guardians and Farseer, he assaulted my 3 remaining stealers and the Broodlord (shudder at the mention of he that kills!), and his Shining Spears assaulted my hormagaunts. this is where things start to go really downhill for Jon... Quickly. He manages to kill the 3 regular stealers, but not the Broodlord, and lost the combat. THEN they failed leadership. THEN they lost this sweeping advance roll.... then they died. His Shining Spears didn't do much better. They managed to kill 3 gaunt before getting anihilated. The picture below is the aftermath of that assault phase.
In case you can't tell, I am highly supportive of my nids in the friendly games, but I mean it all in good fun. Jon wanted an anti-Eldar list and I brought it with nasty efficiency. He targeted the right things at the right times, except for his spears which should have been going after bigger fish. I think he played too aggressively by giving me the opportunity to deploy second, and his Farseer probably should have stayed away from the Genestealers. I love how my Broodlord.... (shudder?) has killed the Wraithlord twice now with his implant attack. And my Tervigon once again never rolled doubles :D Happy days. My big mistake was allowing him to kill my Tervigon so easily, but oh well. I enjoyed the game, and I am stoked about using my Nids in the upcoming tournament. now that I think of it, I will post pictures and battle reports from that tournament for fun and maybe I can get Jon's battles in there too. Who knows, but stay tuned!

My turn >:D Deathleaper didn't show up, but the Doom deepstruck behind his units and the Ymgarls showed up... but not in the building Jon thought they would (the one with no roof on the right instead of the really tall one). My Broodlord (do the shudder, DO IT!) ran toward the Wraithlord, Tervigon pooped out 11 more little dudes, all gaunts advance, and I use my Gargoyles as a screen for my Tyrant. No one died from the Doom's Spirit Leech abilility. In the assault, a unit of Termagaunts, the Homagaunts, and the Ymgarls (who chose +1 toughness from their Alter Form ability) all assaulted the harlies.... and the harlies died after only inflicting 1 wound on the Ymgarls.. not their day. My Broodlord (SHUDDER!) assaulted the Wraithlord..... and hypnotized it! Rolled 4 hits..... and a single six >:D Thanks to Implant Attack, thats all I needed and the Wraithlord suffered instant death.. (Wraithlord shoulda shuddered....)
On Jon's 3rd Turn, he tried everything he could to get off some fusion gun shots at my Tyrant, but wanst able to due to my nifty use of Gargoyle screening. He turbo-boosted his tank to my flank and moved the other directly into the middle of everything and proceeded to try and kill my Tervigon, which took 2 wounds.
The Deathleaper still didn't feel like showing up, but my gaunts kept passing Instictive Behavior tests! After the Tervingon pooped 9 more dudes, I moved up that tower with the gaunts (which made a meal of the snipers in one turn), and then moved all Termagaunts, the Ymgarls, and the Tervigon in to assault the empty waveserpent. They all managed to immobilized, took a gun off, and kept it from shooting next turn. I tried to be clever and surround the other wave serpent to prevent emergency disembark, but even with my Tyrant hitting it, I didn't do anything to it.
Jon's 4th turn consisted of moving his Firedragons in the Waveserpent over to kill the Tervigon, which he did, and due to Brood Progenitor, killed most of the rest of the gaunts around.
My 4th turn was the last with the remaining gaunts and the Gargoyles assaulted the Firedragons and Autarch, and successfully killed them all. The tank was blown up by my fex and Tyrant.
In case you can't tell, I am highly supportive of my nids in the friendly games, but I mean it all in good fun. Jon wanted an anti-Eldar list and I brought it with nasty efficiency. These were the last words of my commanding officer. My unit watched as the rest of our force was decimated. Drijar’s unit almost held the objective, but was overwhelmed at the last minute. We don’t have the initiative anymore. We have been assigned as forward scouting patrol until further notice.

Killzone Games
Here this next week, the local gaming center is starting a Killzone campaign. I plan to play in the campaign and will post the battle reports after each one. Also, in preperation and practice, I will also be posting non-campaign Killzone battle reports. Stay tuned for those and the journals from the last campaign battle!

The initial assault and determined defence
In the first part of our campaign, My wolves assaulted the front lines of the Eldar in an attempt to break the forward defense line. Behind that line, somewhere in the territory is a beacon we want to reach. For this first mission we used the Vanguard special mission. Here's is my assembled, 1500pt force:
Rune Priest
9 Grey Hunters in Rhino
9 Grey Hunters with Wolfguard
5 Wolfguard Terminators in Drop Pod
5 mele-melta scouts
5 sniper Scouts
Whirlwind
Predator Anihilator
6 rocket spam Long Fangs

Jon brought his Altansar army list featuring a few proxy models:
Farseer
Maugamra
10 Guardians w/warloc in waveserpent
10 Guardians w/warloc in waveserpent
10 Harlequins w/shadowseer, death-jester, troop-master
5 Shining Spears
2 Wraithlords
At the beginning, I am forced to hold all my forces in reserve, which concerned me a bit at first because my heavy weapons and snipers had to walk onto the table.
Jon deployed first, getting ready to strike fast. not much happened first turn. My drop pod fell, I fired some shots to no avail and Jon used the turn to turbo-boot and get everything into position.
In the second turn, I moved my troops closer to the objectives while he moved closer to me, particularly with his harlequins. My snipers did manage to come in, but they had to walk in from my far right side. My shooting continued to be really crappy and then Jon blew up my predator.
In the third turn, scouts decided not to show up that turn, my whirlwhind decimated his guardian unit in one shot, and my sniper killed 2 shining spears AND managed to pin them! However the harlequins got some nasty shots into my terminators and finished them of in the assault... without losing a single quin >:-( Then the game took a comical turn. one of the wraithlords exploded my rhino in close combat, killing no marines and 4 harlequins! I at least had that small ray of fleeting sunshine.
In the fourth turn I rapid-fired his other guardian unit (the one with the Phoenix lord), cause a morale check, and his unit fled! I also continued to mow down 3 more quins with my other unit. (meanwhile snipers continue to fire pot shots). Scout came in near another objective in order to hold it (as per scenario rules). His wraithlord, quins, farseer, and remaining warloc and single guardian all assault my grey hunter squad, losing his guardian, warloc, and the rest of the quins, but not before they killed all the marines off. His other wraithlord assaulted my second marine unit, killing one, causing morale, I fail, and the wraithlord trips and I get away! However this caused the Phoenix lord to "chase" the unit because they could not rally (and I just realized they ran the wrong direction!).
In the end, I almost tied it, but he killed my scouts holding the objective. I killed about 1/4 his army and he killed all but my sniper scouts.
I made a few tactical blunders that made me frustrated to the end. Jon played his army very well and no doubt out-did me tactically. Although I lost this part of the campaign, I enjoyed the game and look forward to the future battles. Stay tuned!

And so it begins....
Today, Jon and I start are first logged campaign. It will be a simple and short campaign between his Altansar Eldar and my Space Wolves of Karok Silvermoon's Great Company. I hope to have not only a battle report, but Jon and I will be keeping track of the campaign via "broadcasts." These broadcasts will take anyform that we want (for example, a journal entry from a soldier, or a broadcast from the battle field relaying the results of the battle). Hopefully this will give both of us a fun twist and we will have two sides to the story.
I will post pictures and detailed results from our battles seperate from our naratives. Stay posted for a battle report withing hours!
